Xiuyu Jade

Xiuyu Jade (also known as Xiu Jade) is a type of serpentine jade, a hydrated magnesium silicate, primarily sourced from Xiuyan County in Liaoning Province, China. It is one of the four famous jades of China and has been used for carving and jewelry for centuries. Xiuyu is celebrated for its translucent quality and a wide range of colors, from a deep emerald green to a delicate, dewy green, often with subtle variations and patterns. Its semi-translucent nature gives it a beautiful, watery appearance. Xiuyu is softer than nephrite and jadeite, with a Mohs hardness of around 2.5 to 5.5, making it a favorite for intricate carvings and polished beads that showcase its smooth, lustrous surface.
